While L was on paternity leave we tried to get some much needed quality time as a family. Z needed to get out of the house and so did we. Since we did not go camping this year, didn’t get a spring break trip, or any other vacation, we used one day a week to have fun together.

Our first family day in July we went to a park along the Colombia River that has beach-like sand and driftwood. Since it is also a marina, Z got to watch the speed boats and fishing boats plus it is a channel for the large cargo ships.

We came prepared with snacks and sand toys but it ended up very windy and the boys got cold.

On our way out of town we stopped by a favorite yogurt shop for a treat. Z loved chocolate yogurt with fresh strawberries.

Our second family day of the month we went to our closest children’s museum. It has been closed for months and just recently re-opened with limited time slots.

Z loved playing outside in the mud kitchen, the pretend beach, and making mud pies.

We happened to go on the same day as a well known children’s education entertainer was filming one of his videos.

It was unclear who was more excited Z or mom and Dad. Z had a goofy grin on and seemed a little star struck as he enjoyed his photo op.

Even though its a lot of work sleep deprived and packing up an infant and toddler for the day it was great to get out of the house and spend time together.
